Our client LEAF Education is leading the charge in helping young people understand the industry and the career opportunities available within it.
From providing young people with the opportunity to visit a farm and see first-hand how food is produced, to developing initiatives that grow conscientious consumers who appreciate sustainable food production and farming practices, LEAF Education’s work is having a hugely positive impact on this age group. In fact, LEAF Education’s latest annual Impacts Report, found that nearly 3/4 million young people benefitted from its work in 2023.
Last year, we worked with the team as part of its latest teenager research, gathering insights from 2,500 young people on their perceptions of the agri-food industry. The results found the majority didn’t know the wealth of career opportunities open to them but that they were keen to know more.
Since the launch of its research, LEAF Education has continued to work with like-minded organisations, individual farmers, educators and more, to open the eyes of young people to the world of opportunities in the agri-food sector. This includes its annual The National Food, Farming and Natural Environment Competition, which targets 14 – 16 year-olds. It aims to bust myths and stereotypes, and shift attitudes towards the industry, with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to enter via land-based college and universities and/or by changing their A Level choices or Degrees.
We’re so proud to support LEAF Education, and hear about their inspiring work to encourage more children and young people to look towards the agri-food industry!
